Born in Orlando, Florida, as a child I was always drawing. I won first and second place prizes when I was six for a Christmas contest to design the cover of a booklet for Mutual Benefit Life in Newark, New Jersey. At 12, I began taking oil painting lessons from Lydia Quick of the Windermere Art Gallery in Florida. At 16, I was the youngest artist hired to draw portraits at Walt Disney World for Rubio Artist Co and then Walt Disney World Corporation. Later, I drew portraits in pastel at Sea World.
I received Bachelor and Master degrees in Geology from University of South Florida and Utah State, respectively, continuing to take art classes while in college. Following a career in geology, I began painting again ernestly. I have studied under many world-renowned artists, including: Joseph Zbukvic, Frederick Graff, Frank Francese, Robert Burridge, Mark Mehaffey, Ratindra Das, Tom Lynch and Alvaro Castagnet. An award-winning artist, I have been accepted into many juried shows in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina; the National Watercolor Society Member Show in San Pedro, California and Southern Watercolor Society shows, to name a few. I am a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society. My work is marketed at galleries and festivals in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. My husband and I divide our time between homes in Ozona, Florida and Hayesville, North Carolina.
